If you are like most people, you often consider your own life to be mundane and wish that you had more excitement on a day-to-day basis. Many people, if given the chance to be a celebrity CEO, would take it without even thinking.

However, it is not necessarily all that it is cracked up to be. Though there are many benefits that come with being in such a position, there are also significant drawbacks that, for many people, would constitute a dealbreaker. As with any story, there are two sides, and it is important to be aware of both.

The Pros:

The advantages of this lifestyle are pretty obvious to most people. Being a celebrity CEO, on the surface is a life that many people can only dream of. These people have tons of money, they get to travel all the time, and they have an incredible amount of power.

They are also admired and known by people all around the world. Likely, these individuals will never have to deal with the common problems of a lack of financial security, boredom with life, and sense of obscurity that most people know all too well. Also, if they do a good job at running their company, they have the empowering feeling of success, along with the knowledge that everyone knows just how successful they are.

The Cons:

Celebrity CEOs have lots of money, power, and the ability to travel. This may be the upside, but in a way it is also a huge downside. Having all the money that they do, they are often criticized for spending it on themselves rather than on charity.

Although they obviously still live quite comfortable and luxurious lives, would you really want people you do not even know judging you for how you are choosing to spend your own money? The power is also not necessarily a wonderful thing all the time. Along with all this power comes great responsibility.

These individuals often have to be on the clock at all times; many of them are forced to sacrifice valuable time with their families, along with sleep, for their corporate responsibilities. In addition, though many people would love to be able to travel as much as these people do, consider your last experience on a plane and in an airport.

Most likely, it was exhausting, and you were glad to be home when you got there. These celebrity CEOs may get to travel to exotic locations, but their lives lack stability and peace in many cases. Furthermore, even as they are traveling so much, they do not get to enjoy it because they are working the whole time anyway. Being a CEO also has been shown to be positively correlated with health problems that are most likely brought on by the stress of the role.

Taking all of this into consideration, you do have to wonder if you should really be wishing for this kind of life. Although you may think that all the hassles and headaches are worth it because of the glory and power that you would get to experience, this may not be the case. In fact, you really cannot know for sure until you have experienced firsthand the rigors of this type of role.

Even though you may wish that you could trade lives with one of these people, you should know that many of them would be thrilled to trade lives with you. Perhaps, next time you feel bored or dissatisfied with your life because it seems so ordinary and boring, consider that the normalcy and lack of action may not be such a bad thing after all.
