The issue is that people outside the UK dont vote, hence, the government doesnt care what they think. My issue is that each year the government cooks the cost of living figures. Hence, the pensions, private and state, never keep pace with the cost of living, raises in the NHS, Schools, Police etc. all based on the COLI mean that the real pensions and salarys actually shrink. Hence the gradual poverty trap. I do note that most politicians retire overseas, I suspect they keep fictitious resident addresses and bank accounts, in other words, they are crooks. They also get rewarded with jobs from overseas companies for favours rendered when they were in government (Thatcher and Blair spring to mind, but there are many others).

It's not so much the value of the pension, it's the government's attitude towards those who steal the money and run. When Rover group went bust a few years back, engineers who had been with the company for years suddenly found themselves with no pension - the fund was taken away and used to pay the creditors and lawyers. The directors were OK as their pensions were ring-fenced but everybody else walked away with nothing. The government's response was to shrug off the problem saying it has nothing to do with us.

You have to live here to appreciate how bad Gordon Brown and his yes-men really are. I could go on for hours about the stupidity of PPI, the war in Iraq/Afghanistan, consultants, the judiciary, Europe.... But I won't bore you this time.

Can I come and live in Canada?
