Wooden Adirondack Chairs

You Can’t Get The Wood You Know. Some will remember that as the title of the 10th Goon Show. It was a phrase that was repeated ad nauseam by its devotees. It came to mind on seeing an item in today’s Gazette. Apparently you can get non-wooden Adirondack Chairs from Taylors Recycled Plastic Products. Even though such chairs never need painting, staining or indoor storage, why break with tradition?

I was sensitized to such chairs by another item, The NOT Adirondack Wooden Chairs, which appeared in a new blog that’s just appeared. It’s called Hope’s Bag and features all kinds of unique gift ideas. In the interests of full disclosure, I should mention that Hope’s Bag is a SMM client.

For the traditionalists looking for real wooden Adirondack chairs, I should set their minds at rest. There are a veritable host of such chair makers. Here are just three that caught my eye: Clarks, the best and the leading source. If you’re looking for an outdoor chair, your problem will be that there are just too many choices.

  1. If you are looking for the original design of Adirondack chairs then look at Jardinique.com and note the Westport chair. It was first made in 1905. Its style is compatable with most garden and outdoor settings. The precise angles and degrees make it very comfortable.

  2. Those are all very good chair manufacturers for sure! The uniqueness of the Jardinique chairs is refreshing as well. The chairs carried by the Iowa Adirondack Company also are traditional in their styling… including the deStijl chair which is similar to the original Westport, but with an art nouveax look. You can see them at iowa-adirondack.com.
