The Montreal Architectural Heritage Campaign 2005 (MAHC) runs from September 23 to October 9, 2005. This program, now into its 15th year, aims to publicize the wealth of Montreal’s architectural heritage and salute the contribution of those who work on its enhancement. Since its inception more than 400 houses have received awards though the MAHC. This year there is quite a program of activities to celebrate Montreal’s heritage. Many will be aware of the rich architectural treasures to be found in Old Montreal or alongside the Old Port. However there are architectural treasures to be found throughout the whole island of Montreal.
This activity is part of the City of Montreal’s Heritage program and is supported by Heritage Montreal and several other cultural sponsors. On the City of Montreal website, there is also a full listing of documents in English that relate to the Heritage activities. Make sure that you take this opportunity to find out some architectural gem you have not seen before. You’ll be amazed at the choices you have.
