A Helicopter Manufacturer in Canada That’s Flying High

Bell Helicopter

3,000 Helicopters and counting. That’s the achievement of Bell Helicopter Textron Canada as signaled in this morning’s Montreal Gazette. The Bell Helicopter plant at Mirabel just north of Montreal started up in 1986. It has the mandate to make all commercial helicopters for its parent company, Bell Helicopter Textron of Forth Worth, Texas. The president, Jacques St-Laurent says there are steadily expanding helicopter orders out as far as 2010. The plant will get a 60,000 square-foot addition and is recruiting 600 more engineers and production staff. This will see a total workforce of at least 2,200 by 2007.

Bell Helicopter Textron expects its total helicopter business to double in the next five years to more than $4 billion US. Clearly helicopters is a market that’s rising fast and the Montreal area is well represented in that market. If you want to apply for a job with them here in Mirabel, here’s the Bell Helicopter web page.
